Typing Practice Website

Animated Computer

With technology becoming an extremely important aspect of all classrooms, it is important that we help students develop skills that will help them become more successful. In our classroom, the students are using all types of technology to expand their understanding of the standards. We are also working on helping students become more efficient typers. The following website is a neat resource for learning how to become a better typer. Each of the lessons focus on using the home keys to become more effective. There are different levels and games that the kids can select. I hope you enjoy! Happy Typing!

Videos and Songs to help remember content

I have inserted two videos that we have watched in class. The first video is a cute song about the water cycle. The students have made up some motions to go along with it to help them remember the water cycle. The second video is about the early European Explorers. The students love to sing this song. I hope you enjoy, and that you are singing along!

The Water Cycle

We have just wrapped up our first Science Unit, Ecosystems. The students loved having the opportunity to participate in fun experiments! We built a classroom ecosystem, and did research on different types of ecosystems. Our next unit is weather. We will begin by discussing the water cycle.

I have included a few websites that have interactive activities on the water cycle.

Scholastic Book Orders

Hawk Eyes are coming home tomorrow! Make sure you check for important information and forms. You will also find a Scholastic Book Order Form. This is optional and no child will be penalized for non-participation. If you choose to participate, please make sure you submit your order before September 30th. All orders must be submitted online. The books will still be delivered to the school, and will be passed out to the students. The log in directions and code are listed on the form. This is an excellent opportunity to not only provide your child with new books to read but to also increase our classroom library. With each online purchase made, we will receive a free book for our classroom! WOW! Thank you for all that you do!

Multiplication Mania!

Please remember to study those multiplication facts each night! I know that everyone is so busy during this time of year. One suggestion is to practice in the car. As you are going to school, practice, the grocery store, etc., you can quiz your child on the basic facts. By studying 10 minutes each day, you will notice drastic improvements. I am including three links below which will enable you to practice facts online. These are just a couple of many. Happy studying!

This website has activities, and an option to print your own flashcards.

http://www.mrmyers.org/Math_Mania/ttmult.html
This is an interesting website that allows you to take timed multiplication tests. The timer is set, and you answer the questions, it grades your answers at the end. Remember, our goal is to be able to answer 100 questions in 5 minutes!

This is my favorite website, Math Magician. This website has many fun games that you can play while practicing your facts!
